Sliding Door Wardrobes Save Space

Believe it or not, wardrobes, armoires, utility or laundry rooms, toilets, and showers have one thing in common; these spaces are usually cramped and often lack storage space. This is why each of these areas takes advantage of a space saving entrance. It would not be feasible to install a prehung or French door in a cramped area. Instead, these freestanding walled-in areas save space by using a door that slides sideways, thus eliminating the need to use valuable floor space for door that swings open. In the bedroom, sliding door wardrobes are every bit as space efficient as bi-fold doors, but are often more attractive.

Sliding door wardrobes feature doors that slide on rollers and move side to side. Some use two support tracks that run parallel to the door rather than rollers. Another type of door that is used on sliding door wardrobes is the bypass door. These doors feature two panels that slide in both directions and overlap or bypass each other. All of these doors are easy to maintain and repair if needed. To make repairs, simply buy the kits that include the right parts and follow the instructions. All of the parts on bypass type doors are exposed and easy to repair or replace. A regular screwdriver is typically the only tool required for repairs.

There are other types of interior doors that are similar in function to the sliding door wardrobes. For example, the pocket or accordion door is commonly seen in a garage or utility rooms. Because it is necessary to secure these areas at times, there are styles available that feature locks. Of course, these locks aren’t secure enough to use for outside entrances, but they are enough to ensure privacy. These types of doors are commonly used because the prices are comparably cheap. Keep in mind, these are popular because their convenience and space saving features, not for their visual appeal.

On the other hand, sliding door wardrobes are very attractive and are popular, not only for their functionality, but for their style. If you have a bedroom in your home that is not as large as you’d like, one of the available sliding door wardrobes might be the perfect storage solution.
